She Can Kick It: The history of women's football across the world via a girl in love with the beautiful game.

The story of women’s football is older, richer, and more global than most people realise.

She Can Kick It traces the history of women’s football across the world, bringing together forgotten stories, overlooked figures, and the wider forces that shaped the game. It is a book about how women played, persisted, and built football culture even when the sport tried to shut them out.

I wrote She Can Kick It after realising I didn’t know what happened between me falling in love with football in the 1980s - without even knowing women played - and November 2019, when the Lionesses packed out Wembley for the first time. I wanted to understand that missing history, and She Can Kick It is the result.
